Professor Muhammad Mukhtar Founding Chairperson

Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar is serving as a rector of the Dadabhoy Institute of Higher Education, Karachi. Prior to it, he served as vice chancellor  / Professor of three Universities in Pakistan concomitantly – a unique honor for any academic leader. Through his judicious educational leadership and innovative governance, he converted the Islamic University of Bahawalpur, a regional university in Pakistan, into one of the country’s top-ranked institutions. Dr.Mukhtar received his Master’s and MPhil in the field of biochemistry from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Pakistan, and his Ph.D. in biosciences from the Drexel University of Philadelphia, USA, and also completed a Graduate Certificate in Research Management from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, USA. He served at various academic/administrative positions in the USA on an outstanding scientist (O-1) visa for over a decade.
Professor Mukhtar represented Pakistan at several international fora. In Global Presidential Conclave on the Future of Higher Education and International Conference on Higher Education, Knowledge Crossing Borders – Building a Global Future through Research and Innovative Practices in West Chester, USA, he was the only academic leader from the Muslim World and also served as the representative of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan on the International Forum for Education 2020 in Hong Kong.
Dr. Mukhtar was invited speak at International Education Conference in Orlando, Florida to share his experiences of transforming a regional university in Pakistan into the best one during his four years tenure. Several national and international awards including Fellowship of the Pakistan Academy of Medical Sciences (2015), Cholistan Academic Excellence Award (2012) Asian Education Leadership Award (2012), Outstanding Clinical Faculty Award (2005), and Outstanding Scientist Visa Award in the USA(1995 – 2006) are few to mention here among the long list of honors bestowed on Dr. Mukhtar.
Professor Mukhtar is an avid researcher also. His laboratory developed an in vitro model of the human blood-brain barrier to study viral neuropathy genesis, and with Dr. Mukhtar as Principal or Co Investigator, has received several research awards from organizations including American Diabetes Association, American Society for
Microbiology, Diabetes Trust Foundation, US National Institutes of Health, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, and the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. His work on the potential of cholesterol-depleting drugs statins to inhibit the transmigration of virally infected cells is in Phase IV clinical trials to make use of an old invention for new indications. The human blood-brain barrier model developed in his laboratory is extensively used to understand ferrying of viruses into the brain and finding cures for neurological ailments. Professor Mukhtar holds specialized Certificates in Public Health and Bioinformatics. Committed to the role of technology in biomedical research, he serves
as Consulting Editor of Neurobehavioral HIV Medicine, an international journal, as managing editor of Frontiers in Bioscience, and is on the editorial board of several research journals. He feels pride in mentoring researchers, scientists, teachers and administrators and committed professionals aspiring to excel in their professional lives. He has several research publications, including peer-reviewed
research, review articles, invited articles, book chapters, commissioned articles, and critiques to his credit. A book describing the accomplishments of Dr. Mukhtar’s academic leadership has been published in Urdu language entitled Hayat Zauq-e-Safar Kay Siwa

PROFESSOR DR. MOHAMMAD NIZAMUDDIN

Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nizamuddin served as the second Chair of the Inter University Consortium for the Promotion of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities. He brings with him an excellent academic and administrative record. Dr. Nizam did his Masters in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago and earned his PhD in the same discipline from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA. During his academic career he received fellowships from USAID, SIDA and the Ford Foundation. He taught as Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina and as a Professor of Public Heal that Columbia University. He has had a distinguished career with the United Nations (UN) spanning over a period of 24 years. Dr. Nizam has held several senior positions in Jordan, Egypt, and Ethiopia. He has been appointed Director for the Asia and Pacific Region and Director for Technical Policy and Divisional the UN Headquarters, New York.
Since his return to Pakistan Dr. Nizam has served as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Gujrat from2006-2014. He has also served as Vice Chancellor of Government College for Women and University of Sialkot from 2012-2014. Earlier he served as Professor of Sociology at the University of the Punjab under the HEC Foreign Professor Program.
In 2014, he was awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz, one of the highest civil awards by the Government of Pakistan, for his contribution to higher education development in Pakistan.

PROFESSOR DR. NASSER ALI KHAN

Prof Dr Nasser Ali Khan is rector of Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology Haripur. Previously he was the Pakistan Education Commission’s Member, Operation and Planning. Prof. Dr. Nasser Ali Khan took his Master’s at Vrije Universities, Brussels, Belgium, and received his Ph.D. (Economics) from the University of Peshawar. His professional career includes an Assistant Professorship at the Department of Economics University of Peshawar from 1995-2003, Assistant Director/Economic Research, at the Agricultural Development Bank of Pakistan from 1986-87, and Staff Economist, at the Centre for Applied Economic Studies, University of Peshawar from 1984-86.He is a member of many National Committees including the prestigious Panel of Economists, the Planning Commission, and the Government of Pakistan. He has been appointed as Chairman, the Committee for Development of Social Sciences and Humanities in Pakistan by the Higher Education Commission, Islamabad.
Prof. Dr Nasser Ali Khan has been invited as guest speaker by Command and Staff College, Quetta, Pakistan, National Institute of Public Administration, Peshawar. He has also visited different cities across the US, and conducted discussions with high-level intellectuals, academia, Private Sector Corporations, and US government officials on Trade Policy II. He has been assigned Honorary Citizenship of High Point, North Carolina, USA.

Prof. Dr. Nasser Ali Khan has been invited asguest speaker by Command and Staff College, Quetta, Pakistan, National Institute of Public Administration, Peshawar. He has also visited different cities across the US and conducted discussions with high-level intellectuals, academia, Private Sector Corporations, and US government officials on Trade policy II. Prof. Dr. Khan has eighteen publications in reputed national and international journals and his major area of research is in interregional trade and development. He has attended various seminars, symposiums, and conferences inside the country and abroad during his academic and professional career. He is also a member of various national and international societies.
